International Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (iSURE)

As the largest summer REU for visiting students among top US universities, the iSURE program provides opportunities for international undergraduate and Master's students to participate in research projects at the University of Notre Dame. Students will gain valuable hands-on experience and exposure to real-life scientific problem-solving and learning by working closely with Notre Dame faculty and graduate students on a variety of ongoing cutting-edge research.

On campus housing is provided for all iSURE students throughout the program as well as a series of activities and events to engage iSURE cohorts with other summer students. Some of the signature events include:

  • Face-to-face Q&A sessions with Graduate Admissions Committee of certain departments
  • Field trip to Chicago and visit Chicago’s most iconic attractions
  • Evening activities such as speed-friending, scavenger hunt, ice-skating, and star-gazing
  • Research poster/presentation sessions
  • Interactions and discussions with Notre Dame undergraduate students

Summer Research Why Notre Dame Updated

Extend Your Study at Notre Dame

Notre Dame's visiting international student program, the American Semester Abroad Program (ASAP), welcomes international undergraduate students from around the world to attend our university for a semester or a year. Students' home institutions do not need to have a partnership or agreements with Notre Dame. All ASAP students will be fully integrated into our campus community by taking ND classes, living and eating on campus, and enjoying access to all campus facilities. While attending the university for a semester or a year, students have the opportunities to engage in a wide range of research opportunities on campus.

To learn more about the ASAP and your semester/year-long experience, please click here. More information on combining your iSURE study with the ASAP can be found on the iSURE application page. Please feel free to email globalprograms@nd.edu if you have questions regarding extending your stay at ND via the ASAP.
